2006 Beaux Freres "Upper Terrace" Pinot Noir 3L

2006 Beaux Freres "Upper Terrace" Pinot Noir 3L

Wine Spectator 94pts:"Elegant and refined, with a plush underpinning to the lucsious raspberry, blackberry and black plum fruit, shaded with subtle hints of peppermint and a whiff of char as the finish sails on smoothly. (HS)"

IWC 90pts: "Brilliant red. Fresh and spicy aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and Asian spices. Clean, energetic red fruit flavors are underscored by zesty minerality and framed by silky tannins. Seductive and juicy, with enticing finishing sweetness and cut. This vineyard is planted to five different Dijon clones. (JR)"

Producer Notes: "The 2006 Upper Terrace has taken a full year to let that character shine through. Earlier in its maturation it seemed to lack differentiation from the Beaux Frères Vineyard, and certainly one of the requirements for a separate bottling is that the wine be of unique character. However, recent tastings show an impressively deep ruby/purple color, with boysenberry, blackberry, and black currant emerging along with spring flowers and a slightly restrained yet intense bouquet. This full-bodied wine is a very noble expression of Pinot Noir that tastes as if it emerged from a cooler climate than that of our Newberg, Oregon farm. Its personality is forming beautifully, and while we find the wine less exuberant and flamboyant in its youth than the Beaux Frères Vineyard, it is our belief that with a few years of bottle age it will round into maturity. This wine should age effortlessly for 15 or more years."
