2012 DuMol "Eddie's Patch" Syrah 3L

2012 DuMol "Eddie's Patch" Syrah 3L

Wine Advocate 95pts: "The 2012 Syrah Eddie’s Patch (a 410-case, 100% Syrah aged 18 months in 40% new French oak hogsheads) comes from 16-year-old Syrah vines. Aromas of bouquet garni, roasted meats, blackberries and blackcurrants soar from the glass of this blue/black-colored Syrah. Full-bodied with olive tapenade notes, sweet tannin and an expansive, multilayered mouthfeel, this fabulous Syrah should be drunk over the next 12-15+ years."

Vinous 95pts: "Darker tonalities of fruit emerge from the 2012 Syrah Eddie's Patch Hoppe-Kelly Vineyard. Deep and powerful, the 2012 presents a brooding, intense expression of Syrah, with plenty of dark red and blue fruit overtones. I imagine the 2012 will provide readers with a long, broad drinking window of pure pleasure."

Winemaker's Notes: "Aromatically penetrating, really fills the senses. Wild floral scents, soy, leather, graphite and bacon fat. Then waves of fruit – blackberry, cassis, some hi-tone cola elements. Very mineral and energetic wine. Pure, focused, long and penetrating palate, no excess sweetness or heaviness. Cassis liqueur, sage and rosemary complexity, black pepper. Strong mid-palate with lingering depth and generous yet polished tannic structure. Decant in its youth and drink between mid-2015 and 2027."
