2005 DuMol "Russian River Valley" Syrah 3L

2005 DuMol "Russian River Valley" Syrah 3L

Wine Advocate 90-93pts: "Aromas of black fruits, tapenade, ground pepper, and spice box emerge from the 2005 Syrah Russian River. There is some herbaceousness underneath the fruit, but the wine is full-bodied, rich, complex, and comes across like a Crozes-Hermitage on steroids... As I said last year, DuMol is one of my favorite wineries, primarily because of the passion and commitment to quality of owner Kerry Murphy and his winemaker, Andy Smith. (RP)"

Wine Spectator 91pts: "Lots of spice, pepper, fresh earth and new leather scents join ripe blueberry and blackberry flavors. Taut, focused and complex, this homes in on its spicy attributes on the finish."

Winemaker's Notes: "Deep ruby-purple; High-toned aromatics of violet, tapenade, cassis and pepper. The palate follows the nose with broad richness and full-bodied mid-palate weight. Muscular tannins envelope the back end with a vibrant edge of spice and bright acidity. Serve between 60 and 65 degrees to ensure full flavor development, this bottling will age positively for at least a decade."
