2012 David Arthur "Elevation 1147" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

2012 David Arthur "Elevation 1147" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

James Suckling 94pts: "A wine with blackberry and chocolate character. Full body, chewy tannins and a long finish. Shows mountain fruit style. Serious finish."

Vinous 92pts: "David Arthur's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Elevation 1147 is quite floral and lifted in style with lovely aromatic complexity and nuance, but less depth and texture than the Estate Old Vine. It will be interesting to see if the 2012 fleshes out in bottle. Today, it is a bit on the light side, which, among other things, exposes the tannin. My sense is that the Elevation 1147 will always remain an ethereal, slightly fleeting Cabernet Sauvignon."

Producer's Notes: "Every year we have the opportunity to take the best of the best grapes and let them stand by themselves, we call this Elevation 1147. Elevation 1147 is always 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and a core percentage comes from the same block each year. The wine style is that of no other from David Arthur in that the structure is massive and full palate. The name Elevation 1147 comes from our location high atop Pritchard Hill. Elevation 1147 is the flagship Wine of David Arthur Vineyards and thus is consistently highly allocated."
